Tour Itinerary

Day 1 :  Arrive Cochin (B & D)

Arrive Kochi or Cochin. Upon arrival at Cochin airport, meet assistance, followed by transfer to hotel. Check-in at the hotel.  Overnight in Cochin.

Day 2 : Drive Cochin –Munnar (130 km/ approx 4 hours) (B & D)

After breakfast check out from the hotel and drive to Munnar – “Nature lovers paradise”. Surrounded by lush green tea estates, this picturesque hill station boasts of exotic flora and fauna. On arrival check into your hotel. After noon visit Mattupetty located 13 km from Munnar is situated at a height of 1700 m, and is a delight for nature lovers. One of the main attractions in Mattupetty is the beautiful lake, and the Mattupetty Dam followed by visit to Echo Point. Back to hotel for dinner & overnight stay in Munnar.

Day 3 :  In Munnar (B & D)

After breakfast proceed to visit the well maintained factories from the British Era. Take a guided tour of the factory and participate in a tea tasting session. Later visit the tea museum which explains the history of Tea in Munnar, also a good opportunity to get authentic tea and related products. On your way back head to Srishti TATA project. This project is a venture of Tata Global Beverages for the rehabilitation of the differently abled people. Drive back to your hotel and rest of the day free to relax. Overnight in Munnar.

Day 4 :  Drive Munnar- Thekkady (100 km/ approx 4 hours) (B & D)

After Breakfast drive to Thekkady, one of the best-known wildlife centres in India. On arrival check-in to your hotel. Afternoon experience the boat safari on Lake Periyar. The Periyar National Park is the only one of its kind in India where one can have the experience of beholding wildlife at close quarters in natural habitat from the safety of a boat.  In the evening visit the Spice Plantations. It is an opportunity to see why the Kerala cuisine is so different from most of the other Indian cuisines. The tour gives you a chance to see the plants of cardamom, pepper, clove, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and many other varieties of spices and medicinal plants. Overnight stay in Thekkady.

Day 5 : Drive Thekkady – Alleppey(130 km/ approx 4 hours)  (B, L & D)

Breakfast and thereafter proceed to Alleppey. On reaching Alleppey, board your private traditional houseboat  at 1200 hours to explore and enjoy the beauty of rural village life in the backwaters. Enjoy your trip and see the rural village life of Kerala as you travel in your houseboat. Overnight on Board.

Day 6 :  Drive to Cochin (85 km/ approx 3 hours) (B,D)

After your breakfast disembark from your cruise and drive to Kochi. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Evening witness the cultural dance Kathakali -the famous dance drama unique to Kerala. This dance can be characterized by amazing costumes, very extensive make-up and elaborate eye movements. The stories are mostly taken from the epics Mahabharata and Ramayana.  Overnight in Cochin.  

Day 7 : In Cochin (B & D)

After breakfast experience the local life of Cochin during a Cochin ethnic tour.– See the Chinese Fishing Nets of Cochin. The huge cantilevered Chinese Fishing Nets that droop towards the waters like over-sized hammocks have become a hallmark of Fort Kochi. Walk to the St.Francis CSI Church, the oldest European church in India built in 1503, where the Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama was originally buried and pass by the fine Santa Cruz Basilica. Take a tuk tuk– the most popular mode of transport among the locals, stop at the Dhobi Khana (laundry station), once throbbing with activity but now a picture of slow extinction. Continue through the narrow streets of Mattanchery, Visit the Jewish Synagogue at the heart of what is locally called the Jew Town, visit the Fruit market on Palace Road where locals shop for fresh and organic produce at bargain prices. Don’t miss a stop at the Spice Market, where the exotic fragrance of the finest ginger, cloves, cardamom, turmeric and pepper emanate from the spice warehouses lining the street. Pause and have “one metre tea” at one of the tea stalls. Leisurely time in the evening at Fort Kochi. Dinner & Overnight stay in Cochin. 

Day 8 : Depart Cochin (B)

This morning transfer to Cochin airport for your onward flight.

End of trip.
