8 Days / 7 Nights

Step into the enchanting land of Assam, where rolling tea gardens meet timeless temples, royal Ahom monuments rise beside the mighty Brahmaputra, and the call of the wild echoes from lush forests. This journey blends culture, heritage, and wildlife, taking you from the colonial charm of Dibrugarh and the oil heritage of Digboi, to the sacred monasteries of Majuli, the royal legacies of Sibsagar, and the vibrant tribal traditions of the Singphos. Along the way, experience the thrill of wildlife safaris in Kaziranga National Park, seek blessings at the revered Kamakhya Temple, and immerse yourself in the soulful rhythm of Assam’s unique way of life. Perfect for travelers seeking a mix of history, spirituality, and adventure, this tour offers a memorable passage through the heart of Northeast India.

“Discover Assam’s tea, temples, tribes, and wildlife — An unforgettable journey through the heart of the Northeast.”

Your journey begins in Dibrugarh, the tea capital of Assam, where rolling green plantations, colonial-era charm, and the serene Brahmaputra riverfront create the perfect welcome to the Northeast. After exploring the city and its vibrant markets, the adventure continues with an excursion to Margherita and Digboi. In Margherita, a visit to a Singpho tribal village offers a rare opportunity to experience their traditions and taste hand-made tea, an age-old practice believed to have inspired Assam’s famous tea culture. A short drive away, Digboi reveals its industrial legacy as Asia’s first oil town, where the fascinating Oil Museum and the moving World War II Cemetery connect past and present.

From here, the trail leads into Assam’s royal heartlands at Charaideo and Sibsagar. The Maidams of Charaideo, often called the “Pyramids of Assam,” a UNESCO world heritage site, stand as solemn testaments to the Ahom dynasty’s glory. Sibsagar, once the thriving capital, enchants with its grand monuments – the towering Shiva Dol, the underground passages of Talatal Ghar, the amphitheater-like Rang Ghar, and the historic Gargaon Palace. The journey then flows toward Jorhat, a town known for its rich cultural heritage and as the gateway to Majuli.

Across the mighty Brahmaputra lies Majuli, the world’s largest river island and the spiritual soul of Assam. Its revered Satras (Vaishnavite monasteries) preserve centuries-old traditions of dance, drama, and devotion, while local artisans keep alive the crafts of mask-making, pottery, and weaving. The rustic beauty of Mishing tribal villages and the peaceful landscapes of the island leave a lasting impression before returning to the mainland.

The exploration of nature continues with a visit to the Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary, where the rare Hoolock Gibbons, India’s only apes, swing gracefully through the forest canopy. This encounter with Assam’s unique wildlife sets the tone for the next highlight – Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Famous for its population of the one-horned rhinoceros, Kaziranga offers thrilling safaris – an elephant ride at dawn through misty grasslands, followed by jeep safaris across its diverse ranges to spot elephants, swamp deer, exotic birds, and even the elusive tiger. Evenings in Kaziranga often bring opportunities to enjoy traditional Assamese folk performances.

The journey culminates in Guwahati, the gateway to the Northeast, where culture, spirituality, and urban vibrancy come together. A visit to Brahmaputra River Heritage centre, the cultural exhibits at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, and a serene Brahmaputra river cruise capture the essence of the city. Finally, no visit is complete without seeking blessings at the sacred Kamakhya Temple, one of India’s holiest Shakti Peethas, perched on Nilachal Hill overlooking the city. With this spiritual farewell, the journey through Assam’s tea gardens, tribal villages, royal monuments, river islands, wildlife sanctuaries, and sacred temples comes to a close—an experience woven with heritage, culture, and the call of the wild.
