The Indian Tiger Trail
India is home to the largest population of tigers in the world being the national animal of the country and boasts of some of the best National Parks for viewing this majestic animal in the wild. The Project Tiger initiative launched in 1973 to protect the endangered Royal Bengal tiger has been successful in increasing the tiger population in India and has also helped to protect their natural habitats. At present there are 55 Tiger reserves in India spread across the length and breadth of the country.
